RocketCEO #10 - Mayuresh Joshi
Film Producer, Director, Audio Visual Creator & Storyteller
RocketCEO is an interesting collection of startup stories, where we interview inspiring CEOs and Founders who have taken a leap from Zero to One and tell their stories to the entire world.
Recently we got an opportunity to interview Mayuresh Joshi - Film Producer, Director, Audio Visual Creator & Storyteller and below is the essence of the same, an incredible journey towards success.
Amit Unboxed: What service(s) or product(s) does your business offer/manufacture?
Audio Visual Services and Film Production.
Amit Unboxed: In which cities/countries you are providing services or operating your business?
All over the globe.
Amit Unboxed: What is your background? What you were doing before you got into the entrepreneurship?
Graduated as an engineer I started as a marketing executive in a commercial printing press. Simultaneously was working on some audio-visual projects like an amateur and professional theatre, short films, music albums, corporate videos, etc.
Amit Unboxed: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? What made you work on that idea or concept?
Inclination towards art from my early days was driving me towards this field of interest and certainly, an entrepreneurial kick existed within. The merger of these two led to the inception of my production house.
Amit Unboxed: What is the unique selling/buying point about your business? How do you manage to deal with your competitors?
In my case, the only USP is the abundance of stories that I want to tell. I think there doesn't exist any competition for any artist.
Every artist is a different Individual and hence must not be insecure. If u understand this notion, it helps you stay at peace.
Amit Unboxed: How do you advertise your business?
The advertising of my published/released work leads to word of mouth amongst producers. The persistence in following up and having no hesitation in asking for good work makes me reach out to different people, which helps spread the word.
Also, these days a little show-off on social media may prove helpful but I don’t feel it will give you any direct leads, at least in my case it holds true. Your work speaks for itself and doing your best is the best form of advertising.
Amit Unboxed: What do you look for in an employee?
More or less I work as an individual. But when it comes to production we look out for the professional services and human resources which work with us on a regular basis. So we don’t typically employ salaried personnel.
Amit Unboxed: Have you ever turned down a client? Why?
Hahaha, there are many instances where you understand that this equation is not going to work. Sometimes it is about the remuneration. Sometimes it is about the creative compromises that you don’t want to do(however cliched it may sound).
Sometimes it is about the discomfort you sense in the transaction and business. And I really hope sooner I may turn down someone because I am too busy to take up their offer, which hasn’t happened yet .. lol.
Amit Unboxed: Who is your inspiration idol in life? Why?
There are many people who inspire you at different stages of life if you are aware and receptive as there is definitely an inspiration from whatever you see around you. Just absorb the goodness, forgive, forget and move on.
Amit Unboxed: How do you maintain balance with your family and business? Do you think if you were not in business, you would have been able to give more time to your family?
I won’t say I maintain, rather would say... Try to maintain... All thanks to my wife and family and friends. I dont think it would have been any different for any other business. One who wants to work will work and keep himself busy. If the opportunities are right u grab them and are contained mentally, artistically (in my particular case), and financially, you feel at peace and can strike the balance.
Amit Unboxed: What do you call “Success”? What are those things which you think made you successful today?
Success is a relative term for me. What was a success for me yesterday is just an achievement for me today and an assignment for me tomorrow. I have some short-term goals and try not to go overboard or not overtrade.
If you feel like talking to people or people feel like connecting to you, friends don’t avoid you, you love coming home, laughing, and eating with the family, Sleep peacefully. How else would u define success?
Amit Unboxed: If you had one piece of advice or an important lesson to someone just starting out, what would it be?
If you are doing what you love... Just keep doing ... And keep doing ... And keep doing and the most important thing keep doing it...
Amit Unboxed: Anything else you would like to convey us about yourself or your business?
I am reachable for business, advice, and food anytime ... Only if you are going to pay for it.
If you want to share anything or have any suggestions/questions, please leave them in the comments!
