Recently we got an opportunity to interview Dhanashree Deshmukh - Choreographer, Dance Therapist & Wedding Sangeet Designer and below is the essence of the same, an incredible journey towards success.
Interviewer: What service(s) or product(s) does your business offer/manufacture?
Dance Syllabus to Schools, Stress Releasing and Team Building Sessions to Corporates, Choreography for Weddings, Events, Films. Associated with Aarogyam BME ( Body and Mind Equilibrium Therapy Center).
Interviewer: In which cities/countries you are providing services or operating your business?
Currently in Pune (India), but would like to explore more cities.
Interviewer: What is your background? What you were doing before you got into the entrepreneurship?
I am having a very different background to the career which I have chosen. By profession, I am a graphic designer. After having 3 years of experience in this field I decided to follow my passion, so how I entered in Dance Education field. I have been learning dance for the last 16 years now so I took the decision to pursue my hobby as a full-time career.
I have done Certification in Dance and Creative Movement Therapy under CMTI and Artsphere. My passion took me way longer than a dancer. then Euphoria took place. we make people aware of the body and mind through dance.
Interviewer: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? What made you work on that idea or concept?
After taking formal education of dance not only as a performing art but also from a therapeutic background, I have started educating people through dance and I still do and feel the same happiness when I see someone is really happy with their own identity not only on a physical level but also on mantle level. Dance really affects both levels and I m really fortunate enough to understand the potential of dance.
In a day to day life, we meet thousands of people who are afraid for a number of reasons. Due to this fear, they keep on losing one or the other quality of themselves.
I had a similar situation in my life a few years ago and dance therapy changed my entire life .. our services are really aiming to add value to an individual’s life.
Interviewer: What is the unique selling/buying point about your business? How do you manage to deal with your competitors?
I never treat anyone as a competitor in my field because I strongly believe every business or artist carries their own individual unique quality. if someone is doing a valuable thing I appreciate them. Everyone is having their own flavor to deal with their surrounding… So “JO AACHHA HAI WOH AACHHA HAI, AUR JO NAHI AACHA WOH NAHI AACHHA” (if something is good, it is good and if something is not good it is not good ) is a simple calculation for me and I guess this is my unique quality.
About my business, we do a lot of studies and we do not compromise on the quality which we provide to the clients. we as the team face all the ups n downs together. We value the time commitment and we have our own though on all the programs, choreography, or production and our way of the treatment of the work.
Interviewer: How do you advertise your business?
Oh, yes we are learning many things regarding this area of business. We have our wonderful well-wishers who guide us in marketing.
Currently, we have started focusing more on social media for the Presence, Awareness and Business. Otherwise, to date whatever we have done through mouth publicity only. Our clients and students are the real speakers for us.
Interviewer: What do you look for in an employee?
Well, this is a bit tricky question. Because it is very difficult to have a valuable but simple expectation nowadays.
We really look for honesty, a learning approach, clarity, understanding, willingness of working for other people, a non-judgmental and positive approach, love for work, compassion and patience these are basic things we look for in an employee who wants to work with Euphoria Studio.
Interviewer: Have you ever turned down a client? Why?
Yes. I have done it once and it was my biggest lesson. It happened because somehow I and the client were not on the same page since the start of the process. We both were having entirely different pictures of the outcome.
But, yeah. As I said I am very much positive and ready to learn new things from life, I will always be thankful to that client who thought me a lesson in life. it helps me set up my processes more clean and clear.
Interviewer: Who is your inspiration idol in life? Why?
There are many people around me who keep inspiring me on many levels. Right from husband to our current Prime Minister (Mr. Narendra Modi ji).
There are thousands of people who inspire me, every person has a different energy and quality which drive me crazy many times. Sorry, but I cannot pick a single name frankly.
Interviewer: How do you maintain balance with your family and business? Do you think if you were not in business, you would have been able to give more time to your family?
Well, I am trying to find out the right balance between my family and business. When God gives you lovely parents and wonderful in-laws and of course The Supportive Husband, it becomes easier to take some more time to find out that balance.
I don’t think if I wouldn’t do my business I would have given more time to my family. Because I love to work any work is work for me even if I am doing any job, it can be a possibility that I couldn’t able to give time to my family. So, I think it’s all about how you prioritize yourself at different phases of life.
Interviewer: What do you call “Success”? What are those things which you think made you successful today?
Ummm… First of all thanks for this question. I truly believe the term “Success” really varies a lot. If you see my current stage of life, people may feel — I am not successful as a performer but if u see my point of view, whatever efforts I am taking to help people and understand people through dance and other therapies, I think I am successful at my level.
When your student, who was not able to speak a single word at the age of 5, started constructing one whole sentence and trying to have a conversation with you after only three months of our sessions, I feel my efforts are successful, I am successful.
Frankly speaking, I really haven’t think what are the things that made you successful, because I still believe I have to climb more than probably I will be familiar with this word.
Interviewer: If you had one piece of advice or an important lesson to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Just have the right passion, Trust Yourself and believe in your efforts.
Anything else you would like to convey us about yourself or your business?
Just keep blessing.
